It provides a general introduction to aquatic biological invasions in the region, together with a checklist and extensive bibliography of introduced and translocated aquatic animals. The work records at least 93 alien or translocated species and examines issues such as competition, predation, habitat alteration, disease and parasites, as well as the effects of introduced fish on native aquatic ecosystems.
