For fly anglers, few fish can match the appeal of the wild trout. This powerful, fast-swimming fish is universally admired for its streamlined beauty and its extraordinary range of size and colour. Although there are only three main species of trout, distinctive varieties are found in numerous lakes and rivers across the world. Trout tend to inhabit waters that are set amidst spectacular and unspoilt countryside. Wild trout mean wild places, and the lure of the trout has led many anglers to become ecologists and conservationists. Today there are perhaps more trout in the world than ever before, however, while fisheries are being stocked with millions of artificially bred trout each year, the wild trout are under threat. Pollution and overfishing are reducing the numbers of wild trout and threatening some rare varieties with extinction. In this book we are presented with more than 40 paintings, drawings and sketches of individual fish from Scotland's famous Loch Leven brown trout to Canada's endangered Kamloops Lake rainbow trout. Very good condition. Hardcover, 30cm x 24cm, 144 pages.
